Calculate the fee
Fee = gross amount x percentage rate + payments x fixed fee. For $15,000 across 300 Square Free in-person payments, the estimate is $390 + $45 = $435, or a 2.90% effective rate.
Calculate net proceeds
Net = gross amount - estimated Square fee. A $100 Square Free in-person card payment at 2.6% + $0.15 produces an estimated $97.25.
Reverse the fee
Gross charge = (target net + fixed fee) / (1 - percentage rate). To net $100 at 2.6% + $0.15, the estimated charge is $102.82.
