Stripe Fee Calculator

Calculate Stripe processing fees, net payment amount, effective rate, or the amount to charge using editable U.S. card assumptions.

Stripe's standard U.S. domestic online card fee is currently 2.9% + $0.30 per successful transaction. The fee formula is payment amount x percentage rate + fixed fee. To receive a target net amount, divide target net + fixed fee by 1 - the percentage rate. Stripe Terminal and special card conditions use different rates, so select and edit the applicable assumptions.

Stripe Fee Formula and Examples

Calculate the fee

Fee = gross amount x percentage rate + successful payments x fixed fee. For $15,000 across 300 online payments, the estimate is $435 + $90 = $525, or a 3.50% effective rate.

Calculate net proceeds

Net = gross amount - estimated Stripe fee. A $100 domestic online payment at 2.9% + $0.30 produces an estimated $96.80 net amount.

Reverse the fee

Gross charge = (target net + fixed fee) / (1 - percentage rate). To net $100 at 2.9% + $0.30, the estimated charge is $103.30.

FAQ

How much is the Stripe fee for a $100 online payment?

Using the standard U.S. domestic online rate of 2.9% + $0.30, the fee is $3.20 and the estimated net amount is $96.80. International cards, currency conversion, optional Stripe products, or custom pricing can change the result.

How much should I charge to receive $100 after Stripe fees?

At 2.9% + $0.30, divide $100.30 by 0.971. The result is about $103.30, with an estimated fee of about $3.30. Use the target-net mode above when the rate or payment type differs.

What is the Stripe fee formula?

For a standard fee estimate, multiply gross payment volume by the percentage rate and add the number of successful payments multiplied by the fixed fee. To reverse the fee, use (target net + fixed fee) divided by (1 - percentage rate).

Are Stripe fees the same for online and in-person payments?

No. Stripe currently lists 2.9% + $0.30 for standard domestic online cards and 2.7% + $0.05 for Terminal domestic in-person cards. Tap to Pay, manually entered cards, international cards, and currency conversion can add fees.

Does this calculator include Stripe Billing or Invoicing?

No. It models card processing only. Stripe Billing, Invoicing, Connect, disputes, refunds, Instant Payouts, hardware, taxes, and other optional products or payment methods should be calculated separately.
